The Learning Institute is deligted to announce that the Learning Institute is organizing a “Refresher and Reflection Workshop on report writing skills, basic facilitation skills, and natural resource management and participatory planning” from 24-26 March 2014 at Rattanaklina Restaurant, Rattanakiri province.

The Objectives of this workshop are to:

  • Reflect participants’ memory on the training modules.
  • Find out the degree of implementation and dissemination of participants who had attended the training course.
  • Share and discuss the lesson learned, experiences and challenges in applying the knowledge and skills among the training participants.

Some 30 trainees, representatives from 6 community protected areas forest protection, provincial line departments, and local NGOs working to support indigenous communities’ communal land titling processes, and who have previously attended the trainings are invited to attend this workshop.

The Learning Institute is implementing an action research project on “Strengthening indigenous capacity for their land titling processes” which is a three-year project (2012-2014) targeting IP in northeastern provinces, Ratanakiri and Mondukiri, of Cambodia. The project is divided into three phases including diagnostic assessment/study, capacity building/intervention support, and reflection and documentation. In this first phase we were conducting an assessment on the process of IP communal land tilting process. This assessment aimed to investigate and identify gaps in knowledge and capacity of IP and their institution includes community norms, rules, and their culture for participating in land titling processes. In the second year, we will design appropriate capacity building activities to strengthening IP communities. These activities will be developed based mainly on the assessment findings which were conducted. In the final year we will reflect and synthesize knowledge and lessons learnt from this process to share with relevant stakeholders.
